Through the last 24 years of my experience in the wellness field, I have found many reasons for body aches and pains. Many of those pains I've experienced in my youth through personal injuries and overactive muscles causing imbalances are still being managed with prominent self-care and exercise. Here are just a few of the reasons why our body communicates through signals like pain. Many of my clients experience tickling sensation during deep tissue massages because of muscle tension, also known as hypertonicity. I like to solve this with asking them to warm up before the massage treatment with an infrared sauna, stretching or even an Epsom salt bath.
Did you know that within the body a pain and tickle reaction are part of the same natural response called "Fight or Flight". A common muscular discussion amongst practitioners reflects on how tight regions like the core become imbalanced or protective. Core muscles like the Psoas muscle group shorten and tighten causing the muscles around the lumbar spine causing compression of the lumbar spine discs as well as triggering a Proctective systematic muscle spasm along the branch of the nerve.
Typically, this includes the sciatic nerve and additional sacral nerves which effective digestive and reproductive organs.
Self-care is not a solution or treatment for pain, but it does decrease pain symptoms and could prevent long-term damage to tissues. As a myopractor and massage therapists I focus helping to fix myoskeletol dysfunction through a process called corrective exercise repatterning. Here are a few daily habits which turn pain and dysfunction around that you can practice: Full body stretching, Full body foam rolling, heat compressions, Ice compression.
